Our VE team has a very devoted and well informed team of men and women Volunteer Examiners (VEs), who are willing and anxious to serve those who would upgrade their license class, or be first licensed as HAMS. Currently there are more than a dozen examiners, who include both "regulars" and "reserves." Humbly, we say that those who have been tested at other locations have given us the high praise of being the best organized, most knowledgeable, most friendly and most quiet team. We are proud of this reputation ... and strive to maintain it at all sessions. Exams are given in Bailey, CO on the fourth Saturday of ODD months (except November, the third Saturday), at 12:30 P.M. Check with the ARRL web site http://www.arrl.org/arrlvec/examsearch.phtml?State=CO for specific dates, details, and location. Currently, the exam fee is $14/session. This means one may take any or all of the exams at the session for a single fee. There is one exception: if one takes an exam element a second time (different questions) there will be a second fee of $14. Exam elements may be taken in any order ... so if one fails the Tech exam (el. 2) but wants to take another element anyway, he/she may do so. Candidates MUST (notice MUST) bring their current license, and a photocopy thereof, if they are currently licensed. As well, the candidate must bring a VALID CSCE (Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination), and a photocopy thereof, if possessed, to the session. NOTE: a CSCE IS VALID FOR ONLY 365 DAYS. A candidate must present a PHOTO ID, or at least two other forms of identification. Admission to the exam will be denied to anyone without proper ID. THAT’S THE LAW. WE CAN’T CHANGE IT! The VE Team will supply pens, scratch paper .... and, if need be, a crying towel. That is, we supply everything except the answers to the questions. Those candidates requiring special accommodative procedures for the exam MUST register before time. Pre-registration for others is encouraged. CALL 303-838-6568 in both cases well before the exam day. VE TEAM The PCRC sponsors a VE team, which first administered Ham license exams on July 16, 1995. We are affiliated with, and accredited by, the ARRL - VEC. The team is made up of a dozen "regular" and "reserve" VEs, all of whom are Extra Class licensees, with one exception. The vast majority of the VEs are long time Hams, who love Ham radio and are anxious to help those aspiring to new and upgraded licenses. The team's volunteer involvement is prompted by this love for Hamming and reflects a genuine interest in helping others. The VE sessions are scheduled for the fourth Saturday of odd calendar months, and are held at Saint Mary of the Rockies Catholic Church, Crow Hill, Bailey, Co. The exams begin at 12:30 P.M. WHAT TO BRING: Those coming for any and all exams MUST bring their current valid Ham license (if any) AND a PHOTOCOPY thereof.Likewise, those claiming credit for previous exams not yet reflected on their license (if any), must bring the ORIGINAL AND PHOTOCOPY of the CSCE (Certificate of Successful Completion of an Exam). A CSCE is valid for only 365 days for upgrading purposes.A photo (or other LEGAL) ID is also required, usually a driver's license. Students without a driver's license may bring a photo student ID. Pens and scratch paper will be provided at the exam. Calculators intended for use will be checked by a VE before the exam. For pre-registration and further information contact E. R.
