Letter from the Editor It is with a heavy heart, but little regret, that I must announce my
resignation as the newsletter editor; this will be the final issue of the QUA
that Padre and I publish for the club. With increasing personal demands and
diminishing ability to keep up with it all, my time has become a scarce resource
to tap into these days. With over ten years of cranking out the QUA, I look back and am mostly
gratified with the results. The earlier issues, while rough around the edges,
were a mixed bag of articles from and interviews with our members. Slowly the
newsletter morphed into what it is today. While I am little more than a cut-and-paste artist, what really made each
issue was the participation from the members who supplied Padre and me with
substance (stories of their experiences, articles which addressed some tech
issues, etc). Each creation was a challenge needing to be fit to paper, with the
hope it represented who we were and what we were about. I have honestly enjoyed all of my time spent trying to produce a satisfactory
end result. Unfortunately, in recent years, submissions for print all but
disappeared, our members’ interest waned and Padre and I have been left with
the difficult task of creating something out of almost nothing. Lately there has again been an increase in member-created articles. I hope to
see that become a growing trend. Many thanks to all who have submitted articles, offered criticism or praise
and helped keep our printing press chugging along this past decade. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge all of Padre’s contributions
throughout the years. Not a single issue went out without his effort and over
the past few years, not a single issue would have gone out without his
willingness to create or find material to print! Soon, if not already, Sharon will be looking for a new volunteer, or set of
volunteers, to pick up the torch and continue the QUA in his/her own style. If
you are petitioned to help, please remember that while no good deed goes
unpunished, there is hardly any greater satisfaction than giving of yourself. Adieu and 73, Editor's Remarks For those of you that were not at the last meeting, you missed a very fine
time! We celebrated Daniel’s (NØBN) 10th anniversary as a ham. Daniel provided pizza and drinks, as well as a tech talk on packet. My congratulations to Daniel, and a wish for many more years operating!! 73,

A hot topic at the most recent club meeting, as well as elsewhere in this newsletter, is the ongoing "life" of the club. Special attention is being paid to loss of members and the lack of participation from current members.
Help keep the club alive! Refer a friend/fellow ham to our meetings, get involved in the activities of our club and/or give us your ideas to help spark local interest.
Participation is always a demand that few of us have time to offer. But, PLEASE, do what you can!

Well, somehow we have managed to get through yet another year; it seems to go by faster and faster.
As has been mentioned in this issue, and perhaps even discussed by members outside of our meetings, June is our annual meeting and elections for officers are to take place. Please carefully consider yourself, or someone else, as a candidate to take office for the coming year.
As with any club, we are always in need of new blood, good spirit, and someone who is willing to take on some responsibility, at least for a period of time.
Is it your turn?

With summer upon us, for many it is time for vacations, short trips, camping, fishing or perhaps just generally hanging out to enjoy the sun and some relaxation.
Let’s not forget that this next meeting is
our election meeting! It is very important
that you show up and your vote be counted!
I hope to see you there.

As you will see from both the Christmas article and the pictures elsewhere, our Christmas party this year was quite a success.
Thanks to everyone who helped set up and clean up, but special thanks to those who contributed by bringing food. The dishes were delicious.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to visit with the folks who attended, and our son had quite the blast running around with the other kids present.
Happy New year to all, and a Happy Valentine's Day as well!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Seasons Greetings and Holy Cow to one and all!!
It sure does seem like the time flew by this year. Wasn’t it just yesterday I was complaining it was too hot? Now, the snow is flying and it’s too cold (this is the point someone is supposed to tell me to quit whining because they used to have to walk to and from school, in 4 feet of snow, barefoot and uphill both ways)!
Looking back on the year, we have many accomplishments and pitfalls to reflect on. To name two, our involvement in the burro races was once again a success, while Conifair didn’t even register a blip on the screen.
In case you hadn’t noticed, our running theme this year is “where is everybody?”
I know you are probably tired of hearing it, but no more tired than we are from discussing and worrying about it. I haven’t seen the club roster in while, so I have no idea if our membership is diminishing. However, if I were to base it on the number of people who show up for meetings I would think we have about a dozen members.
I fault no one for not being able to make meetings, donate their time or even for becoming disinterested in the club. I’m only expressing my concern that I am seeing the beginnings of PCRC going the way of the dinosaur.
For those of you who may not have been around to know, the club has gone through growing pains in the past. Personalities clashed, accomplishments stalled, frustrations prevailed and membership faltered. Although the club made it through, and perhaps even became better and stronger for it, this time feels different.
Previously our membership consisted of folks who had the ability, the desire and the time to step up to the plate and give their all to put the club’s best foot forward. Today our membership seems to consist of those who don’t have the time or inclination, those who wish to help but are not sure how, and those few who have been continuing to give everything they can (and have for many years). Case in point; how many years back do we have to go to find a time where there has been more than one person running for each of the officers’ positions (most of the time that one person being the incumbent)?
So, how do we change all of this? How do we turn things around and get back on the track of progress and prosperity for the club? And the punch line is: I don’t know! But, I do care!
I am not an experienced orator, great inspirer or grand poobah who knows all. I don’t have an answer. But, what I do have is an offer. I offer my email address (shobi@comcast.net) and my mailing address (Gregg Schobinger 12005 E Harvard Ave #13-208 Aurora, CO 80014) to any and all club members who wish to send suggestions, complaints, observations, demands, ideas, requests, or offers of service to the club (in the event you wish to help and just don’t know how or where to begin).
You’re correspondence with me may be anonymous if you wish and I give you my word as a ham and a gentleman that your identity (should I know it) will remain a matter between myself and the writer.
In addition, everything I receive will be given full attention. I will respond to each of you who write me (when it is warranted) and be sure to bring all of your remarks to the officers to try to help them put their finger on the pulse of the club. In time, and if I receive enough responses, I could perhaps put together a “report” of what the membership is saying for publication.
I want to see our club survive this trying time. I want to see our club flourish and begin to grow again. I want to see each and every one of your faces at as many meetings and club events as you can stand to participate.
Most of all, I want to wish each and every one of you the best for the holidays,
and a very HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!
Gregg

The past several months there
seems to have been a drop in interest and involvement from members.
I do understand that most of
us have other interests and obligations, and often club activities have to take
a back seat.
Please look forward on your
calendars and see what time, if any, you can give the club.
We have the Christmas get-together coming which will require help from
any who can offer it.
I’m sure the final months
of the year will bring other needs and activities for the club as well.
Please find a way to lend a
helping hand when time permits.
I look forward to seeing you
at the next club meeting.

Gregg
